The first time I saw Cameron Stanford House, a popular Oakland vintage wedding venue, I fell in love at first sight. As a San Francisco wedding photographer, this venue remains one of my favorites for so many reasons. I’m a sucker for historic architecture (my home was built in 1907) and Victorian architecture is one of those things that makes my heart flutter. This majestic painted lady sits in a lovely location overlooking the shores of Lake Merritt.
The garden reminds me of something you might find on an old Southern plantation: lush and green, a bit sultry and mystical. There are many lovely details that add depth, beauty, and color to wedding photographs: wrought iron gates, old-growth trees, pink heirloom roses, and of course the house itself. Most couples opt to perform their ceremony and reception outside, for obvious reasons. This Oakland historical wedding venue is the only place where you can say your vows with Lake Merritt at your back and then complete your evening in the sweet garden under the stars and twinkle lights. For those who enjoy an extra something special, there are a number of picturesque locations along the edge of the lake couples’ portraits.
Cameron Stanford House only books one wedding per weekend during the months of June through October. The venue is able to accommodate up to 100 guests. If you visualize a San Francisco vintage wedding in a garden setting, Cameron Stanford house in Oakland should be on the top of your list. Stunning period details, and a spectacular location make this vintage San Francisco wedding venue hard to beat.
