If you’re thinking of getting married on the beach, chances are you’re looking for ways to make it successful; that why we put together our favorite beach wedding tips for you! If you want a simple, stress-free day, here are 5 things you must do if you’re having a beach wedding. Read on so your day goes off without a hitch.
Anyone who’s ever spent time on the beach already knows that sand has a sneaky way of infiltrating everything. Sand will even find its way into all types of shoes, even high top hiking boots (speaking from experience), so go for shoes or sandals that can easily be slipped on and off to remove sand. The best choice: barefoot.
Most beaches are run by the local government or state park services, and will require you to get permits for the day of your event. These permits are inexpensive but necessary! You’ll also want to check to see if you are allowed to set up ceremony archways or seating, an important consideration if you are expecting elderly guests. Make sure all of your paperwork is in order before your wedding day and bring your permit with you.
Depending on the time of your ceremony, sun protection will be important and/or a must. Have sunscreen and sun parasols on hand so your guests don’t look like lobsters at the end of the day.
If your ceremony is short, this may not be as much of a concern. However, if you’re planning a longer ceremony or have elderly guests on your guest list, plan to keep everyone hydrated. Sparkling waters, flavored waters, and still waters are all good choices, especially if they’re in cans or cardboard containers.
Depending on the location of your beach, you might need to plan for very warm weather, or, if you are tying the knot in Northern California, the weather on the coast can be unpredictable. If you’re marrying in warmer climates, opt for lighter colors and lightweight fabrics. For those of you in Northern California, you’ll to create a layered look so that you’ll be comfortable in all types of weather; stay layered and warm if the day is windy or chilly, or pare down if it warms up.
So there you have it–our favorite beach wedding tips. We hope you find them helpful. Wishing you every happiness on your best day ever!
