We shot Chelsea + Jeremy’s Oakland engagement photos in an unusual location: Mountain View Cemetery. I am the first to admit that a cemetery is not usually the first location that comes to mind when I think about Bay Area wedding photography. Mountain View Cemetery proved to be the exception. The couple chose the location because it had special meaning for them: they often hike here. It’s also where Jeremy proposed.
Chelsea says she didn’t know that he was going to propose that day, but Jeremy had it all planned out ahead of time. Originally, he had planned to propose at the very top of the hill, but he broke down and proposed when they were halfway up the hill. He was already getting too nervous, so he proposed before he lost his nerve!
The engagement session
Mountain View Cemetery is beautiful! I fell in love with the gorgeous European–style fountain, the tunnel of greenery, and of course views of Oakland and the San Francisco Bay from the top of the hill. Since Chelsea + Jeremy live nearby, we ended the day with a quick visit to their home to grab a few engagement photos with their furry family: cats Taco and Tater, named after the couple’s favorite snacks.
If the wedding is anything like the engagement session, great things are in store! Chelsea + Jeremy, wishing you a magical wedding day!
