Desiree + Mike’s Napa Valley engagement session at Castello di Amorosa was elegant, easy-going, and fun, three of my favorite things! The couple enjoys wine tasting and had visited the Castle of Love a few months before. They fell in love with the gorgeous setting, and it’s easy to see why! The winery is a reproduction of a 13th-Century medieval Tuscan castle, complete with farm animals (sheep, pigs, and chickens). Visiting this place is like stepping back in time.
Napa valley is perfect for wedding and engagement photography, especially in the early fall when the weather is temperate. The countryside is breathtaking, rolling hills surround the valley, and the views go on forever. If you’re looking for classic engagement photography, vineyards are a fabulous backdrop.
The couple met at work, and quickly grew to love each other. They are very sweet together, and love to laugh, although you can probably guess from their photos who is the bigger jokester.
Desiree + Mike chose outfits that perfectly complemented the elegant environment. The stone stairways and turrets made for some fun shots, and the end-of-day golden light cast a beautiful warm glow on the walkways. Many of the shots remind of places I visited in Italy, with much of the same Old-World flavor.
We ended Desiree + Mike’s Napa Valley engagement session frolicking in the vineyards. Mike struck a series of dramatically silly poses and had all of us laughing. Best part of all: the grapes were still in bloom, and Desiree’s ring looked fabulous against them. Can’t wait to shoot their winning next July!
