Katrina+Kevin’s Marin County engagement photos at Roy’s Redwoods Preserve were so much fun to shoot; both Katrina and Kevin are self-professed outdoor enthusiasts, so this location was a natural choice. The redwood groves are a perfect backdrop for a couples’ photoshoot, and the tranquil setting makes for relaxed, natural engagement photos. The couple told me that a lot of their friends are getting married, and they wanted a special location that was different from what everyone else was doing. I gave them a list of suggestions, and Roy’s Redwoods was their top pick. We were lucky to hit it on a gorgeous day at the beginning of fall.
Katrina+Kevin knew each other in high school but they didn’t hang out back then (Katrina says they moved in different circles). After they graduated from high school they both moved away (he went to Hawaii, she went to Florida). Fast forward several years… Katrina was home for a visit; she said she’d been home 15 minutes when a friend called to invite her out to dinner. The friend also invited Kevin, unbeknownst to Katrina. Apparently there was a bit of a secret conspiracy among their friends to get these two together! Katrina showed up to dinner in shorts and no makeup, but won Kevin’s heart anyway, and the rest is history.
In fact, since they started dating, these two have been basically inseparable. Katrina says they are both pretty shy, but they are definitely not homebodies. They love hiking, golf, and travel, and fishing-they’re always looking to hook the next big fish. Their proposal story is also super romantic: one day while visiting Lake Tahoe, they hopped on a gondola to check out the view. When they got to the top Kevin said, “Turn around, you’re going to love seeing this.” He was down on one knee holding the ring!
Katrina+Kevin’s Marin County engagement photos are some of my favorites for fall. They are so sweet together, don’t you agree? Can’t wait to shoot their wedding next fall!
