The thought of a boudoir session can be intimidating. When I speak with women about their sessions, they often have questions. I thought I’d put together a post with the questions I’m asked the most often to give you some insight about preparing for a boudoir session with me!
There are no have–tos when it comes to your boudoir photography session! This experience is meant to be joyful and fun, a celebration of your style and personality. There are so many other options besides lingerie! Check out this post about choosing outfits to see some other ideas.
Hair and makeup is a vital part of the boudoir photography experience, so it is included in all of our packages. We want you to feel pampered, and having someone do your hair and makeup for you will accomplish that. We can go for any look you want, from a natural glow to full-on glam, so let us know what type of look you’re going for. Feel free to bring in any ideas you might have and we’ll get it done for you!
All of your images are professionally edited, which means we edit for light, exposure, and color balance. We want your images to look natural and real, which means we don’t edit out parts of you or your body. The boudoir experience is about loving and appreciating yourself just as you are! If there are parts of yourself that you’re learning to love, please know that’s okay. You are in good hands; we are skilled at posing you to make you shine!
Our top priority is making sure our clients feel comfortable, especially during boudoir sessions. We understand that you may be learning to love your body and yet ready to share those images, or your photos may be a special gift for a loved one or spouse. If there are photos I would like to share, I will always ask your permission first, and only share those images if you’ve given us the go-ahead.
Shopping is one of the fun parts of boudoir, and we’ve got plenty of ideas for you! Of course, it depends on what sort of look you are going for, but here are a few of our faves: Victoria’s Secret, foreveryourslingerie.ca, Venus, Forever21, Adoreme.com, Torrid, Aerie, hipsandcurves.com. If there’s something specific that you can’t find, let me know and I’ll look into where to get it!
We want you to enjoy the beautiful art we create for you with tangible products you can display, flip through, and share. We’ve sourced a variety of albums, sets of matted prints with folio boxes, and vivid metal wall art you’ll treasure for a lifetime.
We offer a few different payment plans. There is a booking retainer to book your shoot, and the balance is due two weeks before the date of your shoot. If you need more time to cover the balance, you can schedule your shoot a few months out, and we can break up the balance into multiple payments. Please let us know if you would like us to set that up for you!
Please know that you are not alone; nerves are natural part of the experience. Once you sit in the chair for your hair and makeup those feelings will start to subside and transform into excitement. You’ll be amazed at how easily you’ll go from “eek” to “wow!”
This depends on your package. The rose package is 1-2 outfits, the jasmine package is 2-3 outfits, and the orchid package is 3-4 outfits! It never hurts to bring more if you can’t decide and I will help you decide at your shoot!
It’s always a good idea to arrive about 10-15 minutes before your session so we have time to go over your outfit selections and talk about your vision for hair and makeup!
