Choosing Outfits For Your Boudoir Photography Session Experience

Are you wondering how to choose outfits for your boudoir photography session experience? Don’t worry, you’re not alone! We’ve got you covered…or is that uncovered? I love talking about outfits, and I’m happy to help guide you so you will look and feel your best. There are plenty of options to choose from, so I made a list to get you started.

Bra and panty set

Classic and versatile, a bra and panty set is a simple outfit, and chances are you already own several! If you’re not into lingerie then this is a great choice for you.Choose a matching set or mix and match colors, patterns, and textures. You can also pair it with a skirt, heels, or a fancy necklace…just about anything.

Bodysuit or teddy

These are one of our favorite choices because they are super-flattering and versatile. Plus they are an all-in-one outfit, which keeps things easy! You can find them with or without sleeves, in a variety of colors and textures…you might want more than one! If you are someone who is still learning to love their midsection (like me) then this is great choice; a bodysuit gives you coverage while still showing off your curves!

Corsets add an extra touch of elegance and glam! They pair well with a skirt or thigh highs and heels. You’ll want to make sure that your corset is the right size, so definitely try it on beforehand and/or have someone measure you. If you want one made for your exact measurements, check out Dark Garden (I have one from them)… they have gorgeous fabric choices. Corsets also take a bit to get into, and you’ll need help lacing it up al the way. No worries, I’m skilled and happy to help!

Dresses can be worn off the shoulders for a glamorous look. Or maybe you have a slinky gown that you don’t get to wear very often. Sheer or lacy dresses look great layered over a bra and panty set. There are lots of ways to play with this option.

Skirts or shorts

Pair your favorite skirt or pair of shorts with a bra and you’ve instantly got a sexy outfit. Choose a skirt that speaks to your style, whether it’s a fluffy tutu or a long and flowy gypsy skirt. High-waisted shorts are a great choice if you want to go for a vintage pin-up look; denim cutoffs for a look that’s more tom.

Sweaters and socks

This is also another outfit that you already own, and it’s a great choice if you’d like to go for a more cozy look. Some clients feel more relaxed in comfy clothing; I know I do!

Lingerie ensemble

This is your chance to go old school with a garter belt and thigh highs. It’s a great choice if you’re going for a romantic vintage look!

Some clients like to end their session this way. This choice isn’t for everyone, and you might feel intimidated just reading about this option! No worries, it’s totally up to you, and again, just an option. We can strategically wrap you in fabric or a sheet if you want to venture a bit outside of your comfort zone.

Don’t forget the accessories!

This is one of my favorite ways to dress up. Dramatic earrings or a sparkly necklace add an extra touch to any outfit…so do heels. But why stop there? Don’t forget gloves, belts, a headpiece…anything you can dream up!

So many exciting choices, don’t you think? I can’t wait to see what you put together for your session. If you have questions or need help choosing outfits for your boudoir photography session, shoot me an email. I’m happy to help!

I like that you mention how it’s important to try on the corset beforehand to ensure it is the right size. This would be useful to help it look great and feel comfortable. Finding outfits that you’re comfortable with would probably help you enjoy the boudoir photography session more and improve your confidence as you work with the photographer to get the pictures you want.
